Welcome to our website!   We are so happy that you have decided to visit and learn more about the wonderful world of choral music for children in the Los Angeles community. There is nothing more exciting than singing music that inspires and challenges both singer and  audience.  We provide a wonderful opportunity for this to happen and for children to grow through the pleasure of making music.

We are always looking for new members who are excited about the prospect of a unique singing group.  Specifically a WCC candidate should be able to sing in tune, be able to match a pitch, follow musical directions, blend with the rest of group and exhibit enthusiasm, cooperation and maturity.

The audition process is easy and not at all scary or threatening in any way. It usually takes around 15 minutes. Parents are welcome to sit in on the audition if they would like.  You will meet with our Director and be asked to sing a song you enjoy.  Your voice will be tested for pitch and range and quality.  You will be asked a few questions just so we can get to know a little bit about you.

If you are interested in applying for an audition, and we hope you are, or need more information, please click on the button below.

In its effort to recognize, encourage and support those youth who demonstrate outstanding vocal talent, WCC is proud to sponsor a youth vocal competition which awards funds for choral and private vocal lesson scholarships and other prizes to the winners.  For more

information about this annual event, click here.

WCC is also pleased to offer a limited number of  partial scholarships to members who indicate need for financial assistance in order to sing with us.

                           MISSION STATEMENT

The WESTSIDE CHILDREN'S CHORUS' goal is to provide a high quality, well-rounded  musical performance experience for children and teens ages 6 to 18 that is both challenging and fun. It is an ensemble where youth from the community at large can come together with the love of singing in common. WCC prides itself on being a small,  intimate group that allows for  individual attention  and musical growth potential and is designed to bring out the very best in each  young singer. Our mission is to use the chorus as an artistic vehicle to promote social, intellectual, artistic sense and creative growth  through learning the art of singing and choral performance. Each member will come to realize the important role that music plays in his or her life and in the lives of others  as they reach out offering community service through music to people in a variety of venues.  Research has proven that singing is a very healthy activity for everyone.  The result of this experience boosts self esteem and expression, confidence and maturity, abstract thinking, creativity, good values and manners,  and artistic taste.

A few testimonials..................

" I love the casual format of this chorus.  It seems like the kids are really having fun learning new music and helping in the planning of performing events. The growth my  child has experienced by being a member of this group is amazing.  She started out so shy, not wanting to show off her lovely voice.  This last semester she sang a solo.  I was so proud."

"This is a new chorus in WLA, just getting off the ground. It has a lot of energy and you can just feel the enthusiasm flowing.  It is fun for my son to be a part of this ensemble.  He is just beginning to sight read and it has been fun for him to perform in the community with other kids who like to sing"

 - R. Miniker

"I want to commend Ann Pittel, the Director, for inspiring these young singers to begin to understand their own ability to improve the quality of their voices, both individually and as a group blending voices together.  I am impressed with the variety of the repertoire which is both entertaining and educational.

What's more, the kids have a really good time"
